Postby silviacarril » Wed May 21, 2008 12:28

If anyone is interested in learning or improving his/her Galego language skills, here is some useful info in Galego only:
http://www.xunta.es/linguagalega/onde_p ... dar_galego

And how to obtain a qualification in Galego:

Hope it is useful!

Hi Silvia,
I don't suppose there's any information in English - or Castellano at least? It seems a little odd that the government advertise courses to learn Gallego in Gallego. To my English way of thinking, there is a disconnect.... :?

Hi,
I agree it is a bit mad to offer these pages only in Galician, but I am afraid that these are the only ones available.
You can also check this out:

http://www.consellodacultura.org/arquiv ... p?idioma=2

I hope it helps!

For anyone interested, the Oficina de Normalizacion Linguistica in Vigo, based on the first floor of the Concello de Vigo, will provide free gallego classes, starting in February or March. When you contact them or go to see them they are very enthusiastic, take down your details and promise to email you when the classes are due to start. At that point I think they decide who can attend. I will give more information when I hear from them again.

In the meantime, one of the Asociaciones de Vecinos in Vigo, the Fonte do Galo, on Rosalia de Castro, 41-Z, has a conversation group which meets on Saturday mornings at 10.30. They are happy to take anyone, even those with no knowledge of gallego. I intend to go next Saturday and will report back on how it went.

Hello

Most of the public Escuelas Oficiales de Idiomas (EOI) also offer Galician (Gallego/Galego) courses (check also for CELGA (Galician Language Certificate) courses). Their official language certificates are recognised everywhere in Spain.

A list of all EOI in Galicia is here: http://www.eoisantiago.org/escola_ligazons.php

A good book for beginners is the official CELGA coursebook:
M. Chamorro, I. de Silva, X. Núñez - "Aula de Galego 1" (difusión / Xunta de Galcia) ISBN 978-84-453-4581-8

An online dictionary is here (Spanish-Galego): http://www.edu.xunta.es/diccionarios/index_rag.html
There is also an online course (for speakers of Spanish): http://e-galego.cesga.es/inicio.htm
